What Your Favorite Beatle Says About You

No, not the bug. I’m talking about one of the most influential bands in history, The Beatles.

Also, my favorite band of all time!

This article may not resonate with everyone, but I know my fellow Beatles-obsessed people will understand this.

Someone’s favorite band member can tell you a lot about the person. Every Beatles fan has their favorite group member along with a laundry list of reasons why, but this is personally why I think people tend to resonate with one certain Beatle!

1. Paul McCartney

If Paul is your top choice, I don’t blame you one bit! Along with the others, Paul is incredibly talented and even created another band, Wings, after his run with The Beatles.

I feel as if Paul was sworn in as the “leader” of the Beatles. No, there technically isn’t a leader of the band, but if anyone were to be it, it would be Paul.

Many people tend to think of McCartney’s songs as “grandma songs,” but I personally think that they are some of the cutest songs by the group.

If Paul is someone’s favorite, it means that this person may be very sociable and tends to look towards the bright side of things. Paul has a bubbly personality that I believe also relates to the people who identify him as their favorite.

2. John Lennon

John being someone’s favorite immediately makes me think that they can be on the more egotistical side of things. I know this may sound harsh, but I have reasoning.

John is known for his activism and many forms of expressing that. Peace movements and the anti-war protest are the first things I think of when his activism is brought up.

Being the gigantic celebrity he was, with lots of riches, of course, doesn’t exactly connect with his protests. A Steely Dan song called “Only A Fool Would Say That” perfectly satires John’s “Imagine,” a song about a world without boundaries that cause conflict.

Lennon’s song doesn’t connect to his own life, which makes him seem more hypocritical.

Don’t get me wrong, John is amazing, but that’s the vibe I get from people who resonate with him.

3. Ringo Starr

Now here is an underappreciated Beatle. I absolutely adore Ringo; he is not my personal favorite, though.

Many people say that if you choose Ringo as your favorite, you’re just trying to be different. I couldn’t disagree more, though!

Ringo is known for being a down-to-earth celebrity who spends his time promoting “peace and love.” Anyone who identifies with Ringo as their favorite, I am bound to believe that they are an optimistic and lighthearted person.

Unlike John, Ringo doesn’t have any songs or anything released about him relating to the lifestyle experienced in “Imagine.” Rather, Starr is devoted to a philanthropic life, donating to charities and spreading the words of “peace and love.”

Now finally, my all-time favorite.

4. George Harrison

I could probably write an entire essay about my love for George.

In my unbiased opinion, people who say that George is their favorite tend to be grounded and understanding. Due to Harrison’s spiritual journey in his life, this makes perfect sense.

Personally, I believe that George had the most influential career after leaving the Beatles. His blockbuster triple album, All Things Must Pass, was released and had great success. It is also my favorite album by him.

During his solo career, Harrison sang “Something,” originally a song by all four of The Beatles, while on tour, and I truly believe that it is the most beautiful rendition of the song. Frank Sinatra himself even said that it is one of the greatest love songs in the music world.

Besides his influential music career, I also adore George as a person and resonate with him being my favorite Beatle.

Many say that George is “the Beatle who changed the most, but really that’s what…life is all about, you have to change” (George Harrison on BBC’s Fact or Fantasy).
