Have you ever been so hesitant about something that it scrambles your mind on the daily? For me, it’s the idea of getting tattoos. I’m certainly not against anyone else getting tattoos. I enjoy scrolling Pinterest and finding cute tattoo ideas. I also love to admire my friends’ new tattoos.
My biggest fear of getting tattoos is that they’ll last forever. I may eventually want to get a cute little animated character or maybe even a large sleeve on my arm. But, how will that look in five, ten, twenty, or even forty years later? Will the animated character even have a smile anymore? Will I get judged for it? There are too many questions running through my mind.
On the other hand, I have so many ideas for potential tattoos. I would love to get matching tattoos with a family member, my best friend and or my boyfriend. Those are the most interesting and meaningful tattoos in my opinion. To get a matching tattoo with a person I love so dearly would mean so much to me. It would produce a story to tell others about and a lovely reminder about that person when not with them.
I know it may be cheesy to other people that my favorite flowers are Lillies and my name is Lily. However, I think I would be thrilled to get a tattoo of Lillies with a specific meaning. A tattoo I think I would most likely get are the names of my future children. It is something that would always have great meaning to me and I would value it deeply.
Some days I see others with tattoos and wonder what they mean and why they got them. But some tattoos seem so revolting to even comprehend. Such as eyeball or face tattoos; the pain must be immensely terrible. While witnessing others with tattoos, it makes me feel bias about getting any. It causes me wonder if I want to endure the pain for a cute little tattoo. Or if I wanted to get a gorgeous precise tattoo just for it to look way different in the future.
One aspect that is specific and critical to me is not getting any tattoos before getting married. I may end up getting something small and unnoticeable beforehand. Although, my ultimate idea is to not have any tattoos in my wedding photos so I can look more natural. I know my opinion may be completely different from others, but that is my personal reasoning.
I find it very interesting that fifty, or forty years ago that tattoos were not very popular. I’ve found that many women did not get tattoos during the 1970s or 1980s. But today, it is quite the opposite. Some of my friends have gotten a few tattoos already since turning eighteen. I am certainly not against that at all; they have beautiful artwork tattooed. I am just astounded of the increase in tattoos over the years.
I’m not sure how long I will be tattoo bias, but we will see in the future.
