I like country music, but some people think I hold an unpopular opinion. To them, I say that country music is not all about farming and tractors. There are some good messages and lyrics in country songs.

People should stop hating on country music.

I bet the people who criticize country music have not listened to the genre enough to even consider liking a song or two. Most country songs do not just involve trucks, beer or fishing. There are motivational songs, love songs and sad songs. Sometimes country music can surprise the listener.

Thomas Rhett’s songs include a lot about his life experiences. In “Life Changes” (2017), he sings about unexpected moments in life. There are always sudden events that occur spontaneously that we do not anticipate. Rhett includes his unforeseen fame, getting married young and having kids. The message behind the song is mostly to go with the flow of life and be open to new chapters. Don’t get too caught up in a set plan because at any moment the unexpected could happen.

“Living” (2018) by Dierks Bentley also shares an important lesson. The song is a great reminder to appreciate the small things in life. Take time to enjoy living life, even the parts that seem boring or uneventful. Going bungee jumping and doing crazy activities is not what the song is about. Instead, it encourages the listener to be grateful to watch the sunset or go on a walk with their family, to find happiness in the little things that make life enjoyable.

“Blue Tacoma” (2017) by Russel Dickerson is a song that radiates joy and happiness. It is a good song to play that makes you feel good overall. I love to play it to give me motivation while I am on a run. It is also great to blast in the car with the windows down on a sunny summer day. This song radiates good vibes and creates amazing energy while uplifting spirits.

Some of my favorite country artists are Luke Combs, Dustin Lynch and Jordan Davis. They create heartfelt, genuine music. Their songs are very catchy and will make listeners want to dance.

Although there are some stereotypical country songs out there like “Buy Me a Boat” by Chris Janson (2015), “Big Green Tractor” by Jason Aldean (2009) and “God’s Country” by Blake Shelton (2019), there are also many country songs that do not involve fishing, beer or tractors.

To the people who doubt they like country, give it a chance. Listen to a few songs and you just might change your mind.
