ROMANTICIZING MY DRIVE HOME

As I am about to head home for my fall break, I couldn’t be more excited to romanticize those two hours I spend in my car. Even though leaving St. Bonaventure University is hard, going home makes it all worth it.

Once I unlock the car, get my gas, and drive to Dunkin, I know that my playlist can begin! Nothing is more appealing than listening to my comfort songs as I drive home. The drive is never boring because every time one song ends, another one begins.

There are a few rules I must set as I listen to my playlist:

1. cute drink to sip on

2. heated seats on

3. sunroof open

4. sunglasses on

As soon as I apply these steps, I can fully enjoy my playlist.

I started this playlist sophomore fall semester—the very first time I drove my car home. Ever since then, I have added and listened to it every time I drove to or from Bonas.

It’s crazy to think of all the changes I’ve had in my life over the course of this time to the details within this playlist. I love when it plays popular songs from a certain month or season and just the good everyday classics.

I remember being so scared the first time I drove home during my sophomore fall semester because I had never driven that path before. Even though it was only two hours, I had lots of anxiety. Now that I am a junior, I find the drive to be so peaceful and fun; it’s a time when I can spend quality time with myself.

Now that I am 100% comfortable driving home, it allows me to take in my playlist more than ever before. The playlist I created is called “Bona Drives.” No matter how I’m feeling, I know that this playlist can make me feel better.

Through every season, whether it’s returning to Bonas for another year, going home through the snow and cold for Christmas break, or getting ready to start my summer vacation, I always look forward to listening to this playlist.

Some songs make me sing so loud that everyone can hear me, make me dance in my seat, or even make me tear up. No matter what emotion I’m feeling, my playlist knows how to make me feel better!

My playlist is quite random but includes everything from deep emotional songs to Disney hits to my favorite people’s suggestions. I love how this playlist not only reminds me of myself but of who and what I love!

Currently, it stands 10 hours long with almost 80 different artists. The best part is that every time I play it, there are more songs added since I last drove.

Some of my favorite artists to listen to are Noah Kahan, Olivia Dean, Ella Langley, The Lumineers, Caamp, Sienna Spiro, Vance Joy, Chris Stapleton, Fleetwood Mac, Lorde, and so many more.

Even as my journey ended, the music turned off, and I parked in my driveway. These songs made me feel so grateful to be able to go home to such a beautiful place with beautiful people.
