More Than Just Reposts

I have been reposting TikToks since 2024 and stalking my friends’ reposts for even longer. At first, I thought it was something scary and more vulnerable than I was used to. Then I realized I could repost things without feeling anxiety about what people might think, like they might if I posted something.

I love how I could repost whatever I wanted and get feedback based on those reposts. I smiled every time my friend would like one of my reposts, and I would be even happier when they reposted the same thing as me.

The freedom of being able to repost things from all avenues was what I loved most about reposting. I could repost something I found silly and relatable, as well as something very deep and personal. No matter what I reposted, I felt like I found value through the appreciation I had for what I put out there and for the ability to connect with others.

pieces of who i am

For me, my reposts are a way to express myself through videos instead of my own voice. I have always found it hard to say how I feel and for people to gain an understanding from it. Now I know that people can see parts of me through what I repost and get to know me better.

I find it so inspiring to see that my mutual friends will post the same things as me and that we are able to create a connection that I might’ve never known was there.

a collection of what matters to me

I currently have 24 reposts, and out of those 24, 13 of them include friends I follow who have also reposted. It’s so fun to see how we share similar interests or personal perspectives just by looking at each other’s reposts. My reposts illustrate ideas of girlhood, dance, deep talks, childhood, traveling, lake house life, snacks, comfort shows, and more.

The opportunities with reposts are endless, and I believe that they are a digital representation of things I value that wouldn’t be known if I didn’t repost them.

feeling connected

Reposts may seem like a small and insignificant idea to some, but for me, I feel like they are an outlet where I can be confident in expressing my values and feelings in a way that is comfortable.

I love that my friends can see my reposts, but what I love even more is looking at my friends and inspirations reposts. Whether it’s been my best friend since I was five or someone with over a million followers, I get the chance to see what they like and connect with or learn something new about that person. I view it as a silent appreciation for what people want others to know about themselves. I will definitely continue to repost and encourage others to do the same to feel inspired, connected, and valued.
