Loving Bonaventure and Your Melon

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SBU chapter.

New to campus this year is the Love Your Melon crew! You may have heard of this group in past, or perhaps seen them on social media where they have done an amazing job on raising awareness about pediatric cancer by providing children fighting cancer a hat for each one sold.

On their national site their mission reads, “An apparel brand dedicated to giving a hat to every child battling cancer in America as well as supporting nonprofit organizations who lead the fight against pediatric cancer.” College campuses around the nation have been starting campus crews and recruiting members to spread awareness and build up the brand.

Bonaventure grad student Meghan Ted founded the Bonaventure chapter and has officially brought Love Your Melon to campus. Peter Bertoldo, another one of the founding members at Bonaventure said, “It is a cool program because not only do you get a pretty sweet hat, especially for during the cold Bonaventure months, but your campus crew can build up rewards to earn supplies for events.”

Events including visiting local children’s hospitals and children at home to have conversations with them and present them with their hats. If you are looking for a great way to give back to community make sure to get involved as they are always looking for more members. Or, at the very least pick up your own Love Your Melon hat on their website: https://www.loveyourmelon.com Make sure when you check out that you mark your campus crew as Saint Bonaventure so that our crew can continue build points to make a difference!
