I’ve seen many videos of people sending spare graduation invitations to companies and celebrities, often receiving something in return. That gave me the idea to write to some of my favorite artists and companies. While realistically, there is a very small chance of getting something back from someone like Harry Styles, I knew that certain places automatically send a little something back for a graduation, wedding, etc. One of those places was Disney.
Like a lot of girls, I loved watching the Disney Princess movies. I loved Toy Story, Cars, and Finding Nemo. I didn’t grow up on Disney Channel (what I grew up on is in a different article), but of course I had seen some classics like Liv and Maddie and Jessie. So, I knew that I had to at least try to write to them, just for the sake of it. Anything can happen.
I wrote to them as though I was writing an old friend; talked about my plans for the future and things like that. I mentioned my favorite princesses, talked about the things I loved and how I related to them (reading like Belle, loving animals like Snow White, that kind of thing). I know I also mentioned somewhere that I’m still waiting for my prince charming to come, unlike most of the princesses who already found theirs.
I wrapped up my letter asking for some autographs from the princes and princesses (I’ve heard your favorite might sign something if you’re lucky), and to tell everyone I said hi, because why not. I also didn’t include a return stamp or anything because, well, if I didn’t get anything back, it’d be a waste. By the end of summer, a couple of weeks before starting college, I finally received something in the mail.
A postcard.
I still have it hanging in my room in a little corner near my desk. It has all the princesses on the front and Elsa and Anna on the back of it, along with a “may your dreams come true” something or other. It’s also really pretty and a little sparkly. Even though it isn’t exactly a big thing, I’m grateful enough that they sent me something in return.
So, if you’re graduating from high school, college, or accomplishing something big, I’d definitely say to try to mail some companies that have a reputation for sending something in return. Honestly, the only cost was the stamp, but it’s a sweet experience to get something in return.
