Gerard “Rod” Stankewicz

Year: Senior

Major: Accounting (5-year program)

Hometown: Peconic, New York

Her Campus: “Who are you closest to in your family?”

Rod Stankewicz: “My older sister. We both just have similar interests in the arts and stuff. And we have just have similar personalities and have always done everything together, which brought us closer together.”

HC: “How did you decide on St. Bonaventure?”

RS: “Honestly, I was super lazy and didn’t really think about college until senior year. I just chose random colleges along with St. Bonaventure. My sister and dad went here and when it came down to it, I didn’t really like the other schools I applied to. Bonaventure just made sense.”

HC: “What do you like to do for fun at Bona’s?”

RS: “Well, I’m the most boring person ever. My interests are always changing, so I’ve never been able to do the same stuff for too long. I usually just go out to eat with friends and have good conversations. And then I also knit and crochet in my free time. I also made a club out of it along with a few of my friends on campus basically as a way to give us something to do and to meet new people.”

HC: “What does your club do on campus?”

RS: “Well, we basically are a social club that involves a knitting circle. We can also teach people who want to learn how to knit or crochet. We also created a service aspect of the club and last year we made hats to donate to the Warming House for the winter season. Overall it’s a good time.”

HC: “What’s your favorite memory from your years at St. Bonaventure?”

RS: “I guess there are two that stand out in my mind. The first is when a bunch of my friends went out into the hallway and took a picture together and got security called on us. We weren’t even being loud; she just hadn’t slept in 36 hours.

The second one was when two of my friends and I took a cab from Good Times back to campus at like midnight. When we got into the cab, there was blood splattered on the side of the seat. And we were too afraid to just jump out, so we took the cab anyway. And the driver was out of his mind and decided to take us ‘on a tour’ of Olean without giving us a choice.”

HC: “What three words would people use to describe you?”

RS: “Probably unfriendly. When people first talk to me, they say they’ve always thought I look mean or something. I just don’t smile; that’s probably my problem. The people that know me would say I’m honest, talkative and embody the soul of an old person.”

HC: “What are some things not many people know about you?”

RS: “I don’t know…I’m really obsessed with home design. I also love classic movies like Whatever Happened to Baby Jane. I really have an unhealthy obsession with The Golden Girls as well.”
