Campus Celebrity: Stephanie Dolliver, ’16

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SBU chapter.

Anyone and everyone knew about the recent Give Back Bash. Huge shout out to ENACTUS for the awesome Skellar Party, 5K run and basketball shootout! This weeks Campus Celebrity is Stephanie Dolliver. Not only is she a huge part of the St. Bonaventure community, but also is a huge part of the volunteering community.

Name: Stephanie Dolliver

Major: childhood studies

Minors: psychology and business administration

Year: junior

Hometown: Rush, N.Y.

Favorite activities: lacrosse and hanging out with friends

HC: “What is a special talent you have that not many people know about?”

SD: “I can remember exact dates of special events in my life.”

HC: “How are you involved in the St. Bonaventure community?”

SD: “ENACTUS and Club Lacrosse.”

HC: “You play a huge role in ENACTUS, how did you end up doing that and what’s your favorite part about it?”

SD: “I found out about ENACTUS through a friend at Bona’s and I decided I wanted to get involved.  My favorite part about ENACTUS is that if you have a dream to create something, you can achieve that through the help and guidance of the club.”

HC: “You seem to do a lot of volunteer work! Why do you do it?”

SD: “I like volunteer work because I like to know that I can make a difference for others.  We often like to think that our personal situation is ‘so bad’.  Volunteering gives us the chance to see that others have it way worse than we think we have it.  In this way, I am able to channel some of my own stressors in a way that benefits others.”

HC: “You helped put on the Give Back Bash this past weekend! Which seemed to have a huge success! How do you think it went overall?”

SD: “I think that Give Back Bash went extremely well.  I loved to see all the work that the teams put in for one of my favorite causes: CURE Childhood Cancer Association.  I think that this event really got the St. Bonaventure community involved.  Everyone who participated seemed to have a great time.”

HC: “What is something that you wish people knew about volunteering?”

SD: “I wish people knew how much volunteering is appreciated from the people who organize events. Non-profit organizations can only exist on the basis of donations and fundraising events.  That being said, these organizations need volunteers to help make these events a success.”

HC: “What’s your favorite thing about Bona’s?”

SD: “Bona’s is great because when you have a dream there are people here that will help you achieve it and people who will support you the entire way.”
