Many people boast about being in a relationship and getting to do fun things for fall, which is not a bad thing by any means, but those who may not be in a relationship may feel left out. Doing stuff with your family in the fall can be just as fun!
In my experience, I have quite a large family; there are six cousins, including my brother and me, and we always do fun fall things with our family. Whether it’s going to a family-friendly haunted house or carving pumpkins, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
So… Here are some fun fall things to do with family!
Going to pumpkin patch
Pick a pumpkin patch close to home and plan a date with your family. It’s so much fun to go and be able to pick your own pumpkins and to try the fun activities they have to offer. Many pumpkin patches have bounce houses, farm animals such as goats, face painting, hayrides, and different foods and drinks like apple cider or fresh donuts! There truly is something fun for all ages!
Carving pumpkins
Craving pumpkins is a timeless tradition. It’s something anyone can do, and you can truly make whatever you want! Small kids can make a face or a character they love. Older children or young adults can have their creative freedom! I have made the moon and stars in the past and loved it. Plus, it can be super easy, I mean, all you have to do is get pumpkins either from a pumpkin patch or really any store near you, and a carving kit, which they usually have at the Dollar Store.Â
Going to an apple orchardÂ
Going to an apple orchard is also a lot of fun. You can take the family and go pick your own apples! You can also make different desserts with them, such as apple pie or apple crisp, which is a lot of fun! Many apple orchards have different activities similar to pumpkin patches, including apple cider, apple donuts, and may even have hayrides!
Scary movie night
A scary movie night is also a tradition, even in my family! It’s something that does not require money as long as the movie is free, and you can really do it at any time! You can pick a family-friendly movie if there are young children or a truly scary movie if not! Just curl up on the couch with family, popcorn, a blanket, and you are all set!Â
Leaf pile jumpingÂ
You may not always be able to leave the house to go out and do something, but good news, you can do something at home too! You can use a rake and gather all the leaves from your back or front yard and make a pile and jump in it! When I was younger, we did this all the time, and it is definitely fun and a core childhood memory!
Go on a fall walk or bike rideÂ
Going on a nice fall walk or bike ride is also a good idea for those who may not want to spend money. Find a nice trail or even a bike path and go for a walk! Seeing all the fall colors and decorations is just as fun!Â
Fall traditions do not always have to be about having a significant other; there are tons of things you can do with family or even friends that are just as fun!Â
