I grew up watching Modern Family. Whenever I walked into my family room, almost 80% of the time, my parents were watching Modern Family. I have seen every episode at least five times or more. I never knew what attracted me to the show. However, now when I watch it, I feel comfort, warmth, and a reminder of my childhood.
If you don’t know what Modern Family is or if you have never seen it, it is a sitcom about a family going through their lives outside of Los Angeles, California. It consists of one large extended family, connected through Jay Pritchett and his two children, Claire Dunphy and Mitchell Pritchett. The show began filming in 2009 and the final episode premiered in 2020.
My favorite characters have always been Haley, Alex, Luke, and Gloria. However, Gloria has always stood out to me. I love her character and her as a person. She is played by Sofia Vergara. Sofia Vergara is an incredible actress and person. She is best known for her role as Gloria in Modern Family, and she has been a judge on America’s Got Talent since 2020.
I absolutely love Gloria’s character in Modern Family. Throughout the show, she raises her son, Manny, with her husband, Jay Pritchett. In the later seasons, she gives birth to her second son, Joe. Gloria’s character is funny, personable, and inspiring.
One of my favorite things about Gloria is her protection over her son, Manny. Throughout the show, she will do anything to protect him. She raised him as a single mom, and she struggles with letting Jay help her raise him throughout the show. In one episode, Manny is recovering from surgery, and his girlfriend goes over to his house to visit him while he recovers.
However, during the episode, Gloria goes to extreme lengths to stop her from seeing him. She brings him flowers and gifts, and when his medicine wears off and he asks who brought the gifts, Gloria responds by saying that she gave them to him, not his girlfriend. She does this throughout the show, and it continues until the end of the show.
Overall, I love Gloria’s character on the show. She adds so much personality to it, and she has always been one of my favorite characters. Modern Family is a show that I grew up watching, and I still watch it whenever I am looking for a comfort show.
