Fall is one of my favorite seasons, and honestly, I could probably write an entire list of reasons why. From cozy sweatpants to pumpkin flavored everything to colorful leaves and the crisp air, what’s not to love?
Coming back to college has been one of the first reminders that fall is right around the conner. While it’s still technically only the beginning of September, moving into my apartment, starting classes, and settling into a new routine always signals the beginning of a new season for me. There’s something about the start of a school year that feels like a fresh start and as much as I love summer, I can’t help but get excited for everything that comes with the months ahead.
The back-to-school season also brings a sense of nostalgia that I don’t think I’ll ever grow out of. Even now, moving back to college and preparing for a new semester reminds me of the excitement I used to feel before the first day of school as a kid. There’s something about this time of year that makes everything feel familiar, while also bringing the excitement of something new.
As the season begins to change, so do the clothes we wear. There’s nothing better than throwing on a crewneck and sweats to walk to class feeling cozy or putting together a cute sweater-and-jeans combination when I feel like dressing up a little. A fall outfit just hits like no other. And somehow, even the walk to class becomes more enjoyable when you’re admiring the colorful leaves falling from the trees around you.
Of course, I can’t talk about my love for fall without mentioning all the seasonal food and activities that come along with it. I love a pumpkin spice latte like no other, and as the weather gets even chillier, there’s nothing better than walking around with a hot coffee in hand. Fall is also the season for warm apple cider, apple cider donuts, pumpkin bread, and pretty much anything covered in cinnamon and sugar. Besides the food some of my favorite fall traditions include pumpkin and apple picking and even struggling to find my way through a corn maze. These simple things are what make the season feel so special.
And perhaps one of the biggest reasons I’ll always have a special place in my heart for fall is because it’s also the season of my birthday. Being born on September 27th means that as soon as the leaves begin to change and the weather starts getting cooler, I have even more reason to celebrate.
