21 Wishes

Cecelia Mineo Student Contributor, St. Bonaventure University
This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SBU chapter and does not reflect the views of Her Campus.

The day this article will be published is my 21st birthday!!

In honor of my 21st birthday, I made a list of everything I want to accomplish in my twenty-first year of life. Some of the things on this list might feel minuscule, some are going to happen regardless, and some might feel like a fever dream.

But I think that’s the perfect way to make this list. Turning 21 feels like a new beginning, and I want to make the best of whatever this year brings. I want this upcoming year to be new and exciting, and all things that would allow myself have the most fun for 365 days straight. I want to consistently push myself outside my comfort zone and continue to grow as a person. Whether I accomplish everything on this list or only a select few, I hope next year I’m proud of the person I was.

  1. GRADUATE! – This will definitely happen whether I like it or not. (Trust me, I don’t like it.)
  2. Go on spring break – One last hurrah with my friends before we walk across the stage (I vote Cabo).
  3. Start graduate school – Work towards my MBA!
  4. Buy a car? – Probably not, but one can dream.
  5. Make a playlist that represents my 21st year.
  6. Keep a jar of memories for everything I want to remember from this year.
  7. Go somewhere I’ve always said “one day” about.
  8. Do something difficult – like a half marathon or something, I don’t know.
  9. Go stargazing.
  10. Learn how to manage my money (it’s a problem). AND if I get better at it, No. 4 might come true!
  11. Learn how to protect my heart and my peace.
  12. Spend an entire day without my phone – my phone is my biggest weakness, and I want to learn how to live without it.
  13. Become better at saying no.
  14. Have a dinner party with my roommates (or like twenty-seven).
  15. Make a scrapbook from undergrad.
  16. Try a new hobby.
  17. Visit a new city.
  18. Say yes more often – contrary to No. 13, but I want to learn the difference.
  19. Make new friends.
  20. Be more thoughtful – in my actions, my words, and my presence.
  21. Be myself – and be proud of it.

I don’t know what the next year holds for me. I just know I want to try my hardest to be the best person I can be and make the people I love proud while I’m doing it.

Cecelia Mineo is a third semester writer for the SBU chapter of Her Campus! She is hoping to write about literally anything; music, travel, or school.
Cecelia is a senior at SBU, studying public health with minors in business administration and health science. She is Secretary of the Class of 2027 at SBU, four years running. Cecelia is also a club officer in Enactus, on the club lacrosse team and can be found always running around campus.
Outside of school, Cecelia loves reading, hiking, the beach, and hanging out with friends. If there is a Buffalo Bills game that day, she will always be watching or listening. She is obsessed with her puppy, Emmy, has probably listened to Treaty Oak Revival's entire discography ten times over and will always say yes to a concert trip.
