Our campus correspondent Otissia recently took to social media to find women who are doing amazng things in their communitiy, and making a change. This week she spotlights Jenny Christian. She is a self proclaimed Ambassdor for Christ, Ms. US Empire Empress 2014, Ms. IL Black Globe 2013, an Author, Actress, On Air- Personality. With such an extensive track sheet we were honored to have aprofile on this lovely women. Check out what we learned about her.

Otissia: Could you tell our readers excavation what you do so they can get a better understanding of you?

Jenny: Absolutely, my name is Jenny Christian and I’m an author, actress, media personality and blogger from Chicago, IL. I’m also creator of the faith based blog and web series Fill, Heal & Restore

Otissia: What made you want to do this?

Jenny: I’ve also love the arts and entertainment industry because my father was a blues singer and my mom was/is a teacher that always took me to plays. So, I loved it and always wanted to pursue it. I created the series after going through a series of bad events and found my way through faith

Otissia: Where do you see yourself taking your craft in 5-10 years?

Jenny: I’d love to have the series on a network and having empowerment seminars bringing others to Christ.

Otissia: What is your biggest inspiration? What keeps you motivated?

Jenny: My biggest inspiration are the women in my life and my faith. Those are also the people and the methods that keep me motivated along with never wanting another person to go a day feeling how I’ve felt. Hopeless and worthless

Otissia: Did you see yourself doing this before it came in fruition?

Jenny: I’ve always envisioned entertainment and even doing motivational speaking, but never imagined creating an entire platform to share my trials to get to triumph.

Otissia: What can people start expecting from you for the rest of the year?

Jenny: People can expect the full season one of “Fill, Heal & Restore”.

Otissia: What’s the most important thing to you right now?

Jenny: The most important thing right now is growing and improving spiritually, mentally and physically… while pursuing the promises of God and my purpose.

Otissia: If you could give 3 pieces of advice to younger women what would it be?

Jenny: I would probably say make sure you seek God in all things, pursue every passion and live in every moment

Otissia: If you could go back and tell your younger self 2 things what would it be?

Jenny: I would probably tell myself to relax and seek & trust God.

Otissia: In a world where women finally have a voice in what is seen on social media, what women influences you or you take inspiration form?

Jenny: I absolutely love Sarah Jakes, My good friends Yolanda & Keshena and of course my mother.

Otissia: What is your dream goal or what would be success to you with your craft?

Jenny: My dream goal is to be able to use my gifts, my failures, my faults, and my mistakes in a creative way that can always give others hope in God to make it through anything.

Otissia: What type of support do you get from social media & how does it play into your success?

Jenny: Social media has allowed me to connect to and cross paths with people that I may never have encountered if I wasn’t retweeted, shared or suggested on others timeline. So, it’s been a huge impact affording me awesome connections and opportunities that I’m extremely grateful for.

Otissia: What are three things our readers should know about you personally?

Jenny:I have a big heart. Sensitive soul and always want to help when/how I can.

Hi, My name is Otissia McKinnon. I was born and raised in South Georgia and now I currently attend Savannah State University as a Social Work Major. Helping those who are unable to help themselves is my passion and I intend on making it my life's work. I thoroughly enjoy writing, editing, building and branding social media content. My future plans are to build a women's organization that not only empowers the youngest of hearts but encourages girls as they grow older to be the most loving and successful versions of themselves they can be.
