On this Day a girl was born into a world she knew nothing of.
On this Night a mother and father would welcome home their baby girl.
A young woman would now be entering her twenty second lap around the sun.
What did she learn? What does she know? What has she accomplished?
She has learned that the world will not always be so kind.
That there are days when she will feel elated
& others when she won’t feel a single thing at all.
She has learned to be strong even when she felt weak
& to stand tall — when others reminded her she’s small.
She knows that she can do all things through Christ that strengthens her.
If only she believed in herself.
She knows her worth and better yet she declares it.
When she enters every room.
She knows that she is beautiful.
Even when she is not herself and feels the ugly inside and out.
She has accomplished many beyond her years
Beyond what many could ever compare.
She surprises herself
But yet she always knew.
That one day she’d fall in love with herself
& she’s only 22.
