Comparison is The Thief of Joy

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Savannah chapter.

“Comparison is the thief of joy”. I am honestly not sure who came up with this quote, but its 10/10. I want to just scream this quote on top of the highest mountain.

I think our generation has the biggest problem with this. We are constantly comparing our lives, achievements and even appearances to others. In part, its social media’s fault. Every time we open an app, we can see how others look and what they are doing with themselves. I am not going to lie; I am a victim of comparing myself.I am nineteen years old and my life is not all together and Im kinda just going with the flow. But, sometimes on social media I see other nineteen years olds with everything all figuired out. In the past, it made me feel defeated. Does anyone else sometimes feel like this or is it just me?

However, I had to come to the realization that there is only one me. I had to realize that I AM ENOUGH. You must be at peace with yourself and your life because guess what? You only get one life. You do not want to waste it trying to be like someone else. Don’t try to fit in with societies perception of beauty. Be your own kind of beautiful. Don’t rush into things that you are not ready for. Take your time and make wise choices and decisions.

Most  importantly DON’T RUSH GOD’S TIMING. He always has a plan for you.

Live your life for you and move at your own pace!

Motivate and have faith in yourself.
