2022: The Marathon Continues

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Savannah chapter.

With the new year coming in now is the perfect time to begin setting goals for yourself. Many people may not have any goals in place for 2022, or you are still working on goals you set for yourself last year. Whatever your case may be with goal setting, it is okay.  Many people find hope and a fresh start in their lives by the time January comes around only to feel hopeless by February if they were off to a rough start. Understand that it is okay to not meet every goal within the first month or even the first six months. Goals are goals because we must work hard to accomplish them. With goals, there are also trial and error but that does not mean you are not worthy of still accomplishing what it is you set out for yourself.

Goals are personal and with them being so personal, only you have the power to judge, rearrange, and change them whenever you feel the need. Never set the pace of your goals based on the people around you as everyone has different timing. Also, it does not have to be New Year for you to what to change your life and set a new standard for yourself. Whatever works best for you is the route you should take when it comes to setting goals. The sooner people understand that the better they will be at creating goals and even accomplishing them. The late Nipsey Hussle once tweeted, “just take your time… it’s a marathon,” when discussing goals and the journey it can take to achieve them. This New Year may one of your goals be to be patient with yourself and achieve the goals you have set. While they may not come to fruition when you expect or want to, they are still achievable with patience and persistence. Happy New Year and cheers to having a happy and successful 2022!
