Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m loving my time abroad, and it’s amazing being here. The food is good, but after a little more than a month I am particularly missing some places in the QC that I wish I could have right about now.
1) Atomic
This drive up coffee shop is amazing and not too pricey compared to other coffee shops. But be careful, Atomic coffee can get pretty hectic at some points throughout the day. My personal favorite is the blue drink which is Rockstar energy with pumps of blue raspberry syrup. If you’re not into energy drinks than my other go to is the Nutty Professor which is peanut butter and chocolate syrup pumped with three shots of espresso.
2) Red Ginger
Red Ginger is my favorite sushi place in the QC. It is so good. It’s a little pricer, but if you go for the lunch menu, you get a good deal with getting their bento box. Also, their chicken fried rice is to die for!
3) Whitey’s
Whitey’s is always a good idea. My personal favorite is either Graham Central Station with pumpkin (shoutout to our CC for that delicious combo), or if it’s not pumpkin season then just an Oreo shake. The Oreo shake never lets me down.
4) Jimmy’s Pancake House
Hands down the best breakfast I’ve had while away from my mom’s cooking. I love that they serve breakfast all day and all their food is delicious. My favorite thing to order is just a pancake combo with eggs & sausage. Also, it’s not too pricey. Beware on the weekends, it gets pretty crowded in this small sit-down restaurant.
5) Hungry Hobo
Hungry Hobo is mainly known for their sandwiches, but the nachos, potatoes and soups are also delicious. This place isn’t pricey, it’s quick, and delicious.. what more could you ask for? My favorite thing to get from here is the Reuben sandwich with cheese fries. It’s a great combo.
Well, I could go on but for the sake of our stomachs I won’t. If you’ve never eaten at any of these places, grab a pal and your wallet, and get to munching around the QC… do it for those of us who can’t. Happy Fooding!
