Studying is not exactly anyone’s top ten favorite pastimes, but it’s still a major part of college life. So as the spooky season gains momentum, it is going to be pretty hard to focus on preparing for midterms.  Here are a few ideas to fall away from the stress:

1. Halloween candy motivators

Go by a bag of your favorite fun sized candy! Then set some study goals for yourself: every page of notes taken, you get a snickers, for each page of that article you read, you can indulge with a Twix, every term you learn, reward yourself with the seasonal candy corn!  This method will help you get everything done and also satisfy your longing to go trick-or-treating like the good old days.

2. From study session to photo-op

Break out that fall aesthetic! Grab your best blanket scarf, a blanket, your study materials, and head outside. It’s good to get some fresh air while you work, and it’s the perfect excuse to get some adorable pictures of you and your friends looking cute and smart. Vander Veer or the area in front of Ambrose Hall are two places that can really complete your fall study look.

3. Scary movie soundtracks

Just because it’s midterms doesn’t mean you can’t set the spooky mood! Play the soundtrack of your favorite scary movie to really get you motivated to crank your way through your study sessions.

4. The beehive fall coffee flavors

For those of us who don’t exactly hit those nine hours of recommended sleep, we need a good pump up.  Our lovely beehive has some great new flavors to fall for! They have, Caramel Apple Cider, Maple Pecan, Pumpkin Spice, and Salted Caramel Mocha!

5. Take a break

It is super stressful to go through this whole week. Make sure to take some time away from the books and projects and heal from the nerves and bustle. Walking around campus and taking in the leaves changing colors or going to a nearby pumpkin patch are two great ways to de-stress throughout this week.

Good luck getting through this week! Don’t get too spooked; we will all bee okay!

Just your average bee, listening for the buzz! Psychology and English major; my favorite things to read are books and people.
