Ladies, we all appreciate a good love song. The kind that makes us think of our special someone and instantly smile or gives us hope that our fairy tales will come true. The love songs on the radio are so overplayed that I can’t even stand having my radio on for too long anymore. I enjoy simple music that hasn’t been overdone with rap, techno instruments, and full of vocals that aren’t even pure. I decided to discover some talented bands that haven’t quite made it big and don’t have songs on the radio. These three bands have some love songs that are exactly what I’m looking for.

First off, I love the band: The Cab. Their CD, Symphony Soldier, has just been released and the song”Endlessly” is adorable. The gist of the song is that a boy is telling the girl he loves that he knows he isn’t perfect, but he is perfect for her. He wants to work as hard as he can to buy her dream house, so they can start their lives together. It’s sweet and simple, and I really enjoy The Cab’s style.

Next I listened to the band Paradise Fears. This band is just starting out, and has recently released the album Yours Truly. The love song that stands out to me on this album is “Here to Stay.”  This boy is falling in love and is in awe that this girl isn’t leaving him, and how she is always “here to stay.”  My favorite line is: “I find it hard to believe, I’ve got the whole world lying next to me”. This song sums up the cute puppy love feeling at the start of a new relationship.

A band that is a little more popular is The Summer Set, with the release of their new album Everything’s Fine. The love song that takes the cake for me is “About A Girl.”  This boy pours out his soul writing a song for a girl that he has fallen for. It makes me curious as to what the story between the couple was, but a lot of the lyrics leave their story to be a mystery. This song has them torn between how they are growing up but still caught in their naĂŻve youth.

I hope that you have a chance to listen to these three songs as well as many others by these bands. The bands haven’t broken through to the big time yet, but hopefully if we give them enough support they will grow in popularity and be able to be heard by girls all over who want to hear some new and exciting love songs.
