Life After Graduation: Homecoming, I’m Coming Home (Blog #3)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SAU chapter.

Seeing as this is homecoming week, I felt it was rather appropriate to share some insight about my personal homecoming.

When I graduated college, sure, I could have gone off and gotten my own place and lived my own life. But that’s not what is best for me right now. I’m back at home living with the parents. But you know what? Contrary to popular belief, it’s not bad at all. I’m saving money, not spending money, and getting ready for when I someday do want to move out and do my own thing. I would recommend to anyone who isn’t crazy about just up and leaving town to go back to your home if you’re welcomed. It is comforting because the transition from college to real world can be rough and to know your environment and get your feet on the ground is the best way to lay a foundation for success.

Being home again I can partake in things that I loved while growing up, I have childhood friends still around here who it’s fun to reconnect with and there are community people I’m getting to know better through work and volunteering. For me, there are no negatives in coming home. I’m very blessed and happy. I know when I am ready to grow up and move out that I’ll be well prepared. If I tried to do it now, that being overly confident would probably have something go terribly wrong and I wouldn’t be benefiting at all.

It’s a personal decision for everyone to make, but where you go and what you do when you’re done at school needs to be carefully decided. What’s right for some isn’t right for all.

Now go enjoy homecoming week all, GO BEES!
