She has quite the extensive resume, but don’t let that fool you, this week’s campus celebrity is one person that knows how to dream and loves to explore the Quad Cities. Emilee Renwick is a senior from Monmouth, Ill., majoring in public relations and strategic communications and journalism with broadcast journalism and ethics minors.

Renwick stays involved on campus through her job at the Communications and Marketing Dept., writing and editing for The Buzz, being social chair for Phi Eta Sigma, KALA senior intern, assistant program director at the new StingerRadio on campus, sitting on the parking appeals committee, and as the college of business student representative on the Board of Studies.

Off campus, Renwick finds creative ways to spend her time. She loves to shop in the Quad Cities, read magazines, Instagram and one other thing.

“Oh and I love to eat. I adore food. My favorite is going out for any meal with friends and family. Food brings everyone together,” Renwick said.

Although she does not have anything lined up for after graduation, Renwick is looking into a variety of opportunities including magazine editing, social media managers and PR firms. Her dream job comes in the form of being the editor-in-chief of Marie Claire for 15 years and then coming back to the area. She would also like to work locally to give back to her home community.

As graduation nears, Renwick has a few words of wisdom for any SAU underclassmen.

“Eat dessert first, get to know your professors because you never know how funny they can be, get involved in as much as you can–you’ll be soo busy but at the end of the day you’ll feel very accomplished and that’s the best feeling,” Renwick said.

All of this wisdom and involvement has to come from somewhere, and Renwick notes her dad as her biggest role model. She values the life lessons he has taught her and the fact that he always has a positive attitude and puts so much effort into his faith.

Amid her wall of quotes, Emilee can pick out a few of her favorites. One of them says, “I’ve been single for a while now. And I have to say it’s going very well. Like it’s working out. I think I’m the one.”

Three things you don’t know about this week’s celebrity?  She watches  Nightly News with Brian Williams every night, she is a super nerd about bugs and insects and is a very bad speller.

“My mom still blames my second grade teacher, autocorrect actually makes my life much easier,” Renwick joked.

Although she may not know where she is going after graduation, Renwick is excited to see what the future holds for her.
