Admit it, you watched the Super Bowl on Sunday night for the commercials. You could be an avid Ravens or 49ers fan, but you still looked forward to the commercials the most. This year will be a year to remember.  If anything you will remember the 34 minute black out that prevented you from watching more commercials. When looking at the commercials, though, comical took second to a few serious and heart-felt ones. There were some well-done commercials as well as some we all could have done without.  In case you missed the big event or you would just like to reminisce, here are the best and worst commercials from Super Bowl 47.

The Highlights

  1. Dodge Ram “God made a Farmer”

Maybe it’s because we are in Iowa, but this commercial takes the cake. It may have been a little long, but the message behind it paired with the pictures made for a perfect commercial. It may not be a traditional laugh-out-loud commercial, but it is sure being shared like crazy on Facebook because it tells the truth about a year in the life of a farmer.

  1. Jeep “Whole Again”

Jeep’s commercial comes in at a very close second as it brings a tear to all viewers’ eyes. This salute to our troops was exactly what the audience needed as a reminder that after the game we are still one country that supports our troops in everything they do for us.

  1. Budweiser “Brotherhood”

It only took 60 seconds to become attached to the baby Clydesdale in this commercial. This adorable ad pulled out Budweiser’s signature horses and allowed viewers to reminisce when they have ever seen the beautiful horses while still promoting their drink.

  1.  All-State “Mayhem”

This commercial provided the perfect explanation for too many chaotic events in history. From Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit to the great Chicago fire, they hit everything. The cherry on top of this was the random assignments of referees at the end. It was perfect for a Super Bowl commercial.

  1. Doritos’ “Fashionista Daddy”

Doritos has built itself a pretty good reputation over the last few years and this year added to that perfectly. If Dad playing dress-up with his daughter wasn’t enough, his four friends discover the make-up clad father and in a flash we discover five grown men covered in make-up and donning puffy dresses. You have to admit this one was funny and adorable that Dad could take time out of his day for his little girl.

Honorable Mention

  1. Best Buy’s “Asking Amy”
  2. Audi’s “Prom”
  3. Doritos “Goat 4 Sale”
  4. Taco Bell “Viva Young”

The Lowlights

  1. Go Daddy.com “Perfect Match”

Everyone cringed when this flop came on and we were forced to watch a couple make out for longer than necessary. It doesn’t help that this was in the first round of commercials, so everyone was watching and their expectations were crushed.

  1. Coke “Chase”

This chase was interesting to start, but we never saw the end. If you by chance went to the website to vote for your favorite contestant, you found a picture of a desert, but nowhere to vote.

  1. Century 21 “Wedding”

When you think of Super Bowl commercials, you think of very creative and over the top ideas. This wedding commercial that poked fun at the mother-in-law was anything but over the top.

After a quick recap, all we can do is hope that next year’s commercials are just as entertaining and maybe a few companies can redeem themselves.
