Selena: The Queen of Tejano music is easily one of the most celebrated Mexican-American artists of all time. She won Female Vocalist of the Year from the Tejano Music Awards, which she won nine consecutive times. She debuted at age eight with her older siblings in a band called Selena y Los Dinos. She signed with EMI Latin Records and released her first solo album in 1989. 

Shakira: Shakira has sold over 80 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling artists of all time. Recording nearly 150 songs, Her talent as a singer is evidenced by her role as a coach on the Voice for two seasons and her numerous awards. Shakira stands as a pioneer of Latin music whose contributions to the genre.

Gloria Estefan: This Cuban-American singer would earn three Grammy Awards, a Presidential Medal of Freedom, and be named one of the Top 100 Artists of all time by both Billboard and VH1. 

Julio Iglesias: His music has been recorded in 14 languages, and he’s been honored around the world as one of the most popular international singers. His record of awards is long, with the Grammys, Latin Grammy, Billboard Music, and lo Lo Nuestro Awards all honoring him with awards at various points in his career.

Ruben Blades: Winner of ten Grammy Awards and twelve Latin Grammy Awards. Blades was so popular in Panama that when he ran for the presidency of the country, he was able to earn 17% of the vote despite little to no political experience. Ruben Blades is an icon within Panama and Latin America.

Jennifer Lopez: ls also known by her stage name J.Lo, is a singer, dancer, and actress born to Puerto Rican parents. More than just a performer, Lopez is also a businesswoman. In 2001, she launched a clothing line, and in 2018, she launched a makeup brand. Lopez got her big break starring in a film about Selena. She’s also been a celebrity judge on American Idol and World of Dance. She also performed the Super Bowl LIV halftime show with Shakira.

Luis Miguel: Nicknamed “The Sun Of Mexico,”. Even though he never sang in English, he won six Grammys and six Latin Grammys. He is a versatile Mexican singer who has sung songs in tango, pop, ballads, and boleros, among others.

Veronica A(V) is the Campus Correspondent at HC @ SAU. She oversees the entire chapter including editorial, events, social media, etc. Beyond HC, V is involved on campus. She is the President of DAPi. She is the Social Media Director for SAAT, and a Sexual Assault Advocate. Veronica is majoring in Early Childhood Education with an endorsement in Special Education and a minor in Music. She is currently student teaching!!! In her freetime, V plays the flute and other instruments and can sing. She used to play and coach softball. Veronica was born in Florida but now lives in Illinois. She also has 2 cats at home. She was the D.E.I. Ambassador for 2 years.
