Taylor Swift: Bestest to least bestest

(Because there is no ‘worst’ in T Swizzle’s work)

I feel like I have grown up with Taylor Swift as my long lost mom, bringing me my long overdue Christmas and birthday gifts every time she drops an album. And every time I think I have outgrown her, she proves me wrong every single time. In the light of her newest drop of Midnights (which has literally been the only music I have listened to since the drop), I figured it was time for a walk down memory lane and watch our queen grow <3

Starting off strong with the best of the best —

1 – Lover (2019) 5 / 5 Stars

    Cornelia Street

    Cruel Summer

    False God

London Boy

Truly a no skip album, Taylor’s best work and something a lot different than what she has served ever before. While it’s single debut ME! is not what a lot of people love, it really does show that this is her FIRST FULLY OWNED ALBUM — which is so girlboss, love her so much. This is the album that taught me love.

2 – Midnights—3am version(2022) 4.5 / 5 Stars

    Anti-hero

    Glitch

    Bigger than the Whole Sky

I want to rank this as #1 but I don’t want my bias of something new and shiny to take over the beauty made in 2019, but this really is an amazing album that is no skip. This album is nothing that I think anyone expected from her but it is so raw and shows a side that has never been exposed (not to mention it is quite literally breaking records across the globe!)

3 – Red (2012) 4 / 5 Stars

    All Too Well

    Stay Stay Stay

    Treacherous

This was a relationship album and let me tell you, 10 year old me blasted every one of these songs on my CD player and I quite literally dreamed of singing Stay Stay Stay to my lover. A really good introduction to her pop era that we will never forget.

4 – Reputation (2017) 4 / 5 Stars

    Gorgeous

    Getaway Car

    Dancing With Our Hands Tied

Reputation makes me want to get out my black leather pants, boots, jacket, black sunglasses, dye my hair black, find some black lipstick and go kill anyone that has ever looked at me wrong & get eloped to a secret man and move off of the grid. It is such a girlboss album that makes me nearly crash my car every time. Love love love love reputation.

5 – Speak Now (2010) 4 / 5 Stars

    Speak Now

    Never Grow Up

    Better Than Revenge

Speak Now will always remind me of my childhood. It has such a special place in my heart and fills me with memories of singing at my grandparent’s house with my cousins. It was so beautifully written and I still often bring this one up on my car drives.

6 – Fearless (2008) 3.5 / 5 Stars

    You’re Not Sorry

    The Way I Loved You

    Breathe

This is the album that I sobbed to in my car for months after my entire-high-school-career boyfriend and I broke up. Need I say more? (Perhaps this has a stab correlating to the songs I favor, oops)

7 – Taylor Swift Debut (2006) 3.5 / 5 Stars

    Teardrops on My Guitar

    A Perfectly Good Heart

    Cold As You

I have no shame in saying that I have been a diehard Taylor Swift fan since her first debut single — Teardrops on My Guitar (hence, it’s first place). I remember I was on my way to swim practice and it was playing on my mom’s car radio and I was hooked. As I grew up, I went back through and found all of the hidden gems through this album.

8 – Evermore (2020) 3 / 5 Stars

    No Body, No Crime

    Champagne Problems

    Willow

9 – Folklore (2020) 3 / 5 Stars

    Mad Woman

    The 1

Cardigan

For both Evermore and Folklore, I really was like 16 months behind when I rediscovered Taylor Swift so I really missed the big introduction and excitement of it all, but I still have so much love for it and still frequent these both often. These were storytelling albums — which was a new form of writing for Taylor and she did nothing less than amazing, but it just wasn’t from her heart and soul like her others. Still amazing work, obviously. It’s Taylor Swift.

10 – 1989 (2014) 3 / 5 stars

    Wildest Dreams

    Bad Blood

    Out Of The Woods

I am going to get destroyed for this placement for 1989 but I think she was just in a hard place in life and her work showed it. I will scream my heart out anytime one of these songs comes on, don’t get me wrong. But if I had to throw one, it would be this one. Sorry TS, love you the most.
