During the holiday season, some people think of all the food they are going to eat or the endless amount of money they’re about to spend shopping, but almost everyone thinks of all the things they are thankful for. Here are my top 8 things I’m thankful for:

1. Family and Friends

I’m thankful for all the people who make my world go round. I don’t know who I’d be without the people who have sculpted me into the person I am today. Everyone is always so excited to rush home on breaks to be with their families–the ones who love them the most. Without friends life would just be boring, I’m thankful for friends who keep my life exciting and help me survive college!

2. Those Who Have Served

There can’t be enough said about the people who put their lives in danger to provide us protection. I’m thankful for each and every person who leave their families for extended periods of time to protect our country.

3. Pets

Pets make life better. There’s nothing better than your dog or cat greeting you when you get home. They give endless and unconditional love. I’m thankful for always being greeted with kisses by my four-legged furry friend every time I open the door.

4. Homemade Food

Every college student knows that cafeteria food just doesn’t cut it. There’s something special about Grandma’s recipes! I’m especially thankful for the Thanksgiving feast because at this point in the semester I can barely bring myself to go to the cafeteria.

5. Sweet Treats

After tests, I always self-indulge with a sweet treat. It’s important to treat yourself right?!?!  I’m thankful for Whitey’s, Dairy Queen, and Lagomarcino’s for having the best ice cream or caramel apples.

6. Free Laundry

I don’t know how many times I’ve had to ask one of my friends if they had any extra quarters, but I’m sure it’s annoying every time. It’s always the best when I get to go home and wash my clothes for FREE. I don’t have to fumble with quarters or carry all my clothes, detergent, and dryer sheets down the hall and into the laundry room. Convenience is key!

7. Christmas Movies

I’m pretty sure the hallmark channel is on 24/7 during the holiday season. I know, I know, the plots are the same for ALL of the movies, but I still love them. Nothing makes the holidays better than snuggling up in a blanket and watching a good movie. I’m forever thankful for all the nights spent cozied up in a warm blanket, sipping on hot chocolate, watching Christmas movies.

   8. Black Friday

This is quite possibly one of the best days of my life–I can’t pass up a good bargain! Black Friday is the perfect time to buy any items you might need for school (laptops, tablets, or any dorm essentials). I’m always thankful for a good excuse to shop.
