What You Didn’t Know About the US Presidents

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at San Francisco chapter.

If you went to school in the United States, you probably know quite a bit about the presidents. However, beyond the wars and legislation there is a lot more to the presidents than what you learned in class. Here’s the fun facts your history teachers didn’t tell you about the presidents:

Millard Fillmore, the 13th President (and Alec Baldwin look alike), got some extra credit when he married his school teacher. The age difference was only 2 years, but Fillmore was still hot for teacher.

Standing at 6’4”, Abraham Lincoln was the tallest president. Those lanky limbs allowed him to be quite the accomplished wrestler, only being defeated once in a total of 300 matches. He was given the honor of “Outstanding American” by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame

William Howard Taft, the 27th President of the United States, was reportedly 355 pounds while in office, the largest president in history. If that isn’t interesting enough, it was rumored that he once got stuck in the bathtub in the White House and needed the help of attendants to get out. Unfortunately, historians say this story was likely be made up by his political opponents (who were jealous of his awesome mustache probably).

The 40th President, Ronald Reagan, was a certified hottie with a body. Not only was he prolific actor, but in 1940, the University of California gave him the “Most Nearly Perfect Male Figure Award.” This gave him the opportunity to be an almost nude male model for an art class at the college.

George W. Bush, the 43rd President, can tell you all about school spirit. In the 1960s, he was a cheerleader at his high school in Massachusetts. But he wasn’t just any cheerleader, he was the head cheerleader. Later he also cheered for Yale University. Rah rah rah!
