What Is It Like When The Weather Starts To Get Warm?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at San Francisco chapter.

Let me be honest with you. I love warm weather! ♥ It is a great feeling when shorts and dresses come out from storage. People come out from hibernation and bask under the sun’s rays. Our energy gets a boost as we can almost grasp summer in our hands.

On campus, students begin to enjoy nature as they lay on the lawn and play games outside, such as football or Frisbee. Oh ladies, did I mention the cute guys? Yes! All the cuties come out from hiding (wink, wink), and just like that, we have a deeper appreciation for our school. Am I right? Overall, the campus radiates with good vibes and green sceneries. That’s the great thing about Northern California! We can admire nature’s beauty year round because it is always green here, but in Springtime, the Bay becomes magical. I know I will be studying outside once the days get warmer. Will you?

San Francisco is relatively the same temperature year round, because during summer our friend, the fog, covers the city with a cool mist. During winter we don’t get cold–like below zero cold–because the ocean regulates the weather in such a way that we end up between 40-70 degrees Fahrenheit year round. That is approximate, but as you know, living in San Francisco or the rest of the Bay is like living with a bipolar sibling. At one point we can be enjoying a sunny, clear skies day with highs up to 80, and the next second the temperatures drops 20 degrees because of the fog. With that said, we must acknowledge that we should be prepared for any type of weather here in the Bay. Tip: Always carry a jacket.

Don’t let that discourage you though! Frisco has so much to offer, from beaches to piers to great picnic areas to enjoy with your girlfriends. When the weather is beautiful, I grab my friends and head out to the beach. It’s a simple activity that you can do as we start getting to those high 70 degrees. (From our Instagram: Ocean Beach)

As days get longer during the Spring and Summer, we can fit more into our agenda! (Besides studying, of course.) Let’s head to the Piers or perhaps Golden Gate Park. If you get tired of the fog, all you have to do is cross the Bridges, and back to the sunshine you go. Try exploring a new place!
