What if there was an almighty super fruit that could prevent breast cancer, boost your sex drive, and give you wrinkle free skin? Sounds like this is a job for pomegranate! Ladies, or should I say damsels in distress, it is time we get to know this super fruit a little better. According to the Mayo Clinic Staff’s, Women’s Health: Preventing the Top 7 Threats the number one killer of women is heart disease and number two is cancer.

Pomegranates are loaded with antioxidants, vitamin C, and potassium. Unlike many other fruits, the juice of a pomegranate is just as beneficial as its fruit, thus given the name “super fruit” according to Superfruits: A Look at the Facts. Pomegranates have been consumed for its benefits for thousands of years and have been used in many systems of medicine as stated in Therapeutic Applications of Pomegranates: A ReviewA study done with pomegranates was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (2000). The study noted that in an experiment, unhealthy mice consumed pomegranate juice daily for two weeks and experienced a drop in cholesterol levels by 90%.

The antioxidants in pomegranates also protect the body from free radicals. Free radicals are highly reactive molecules that interfere with normal cell functions that can potentially lead to cancer.

But what about keeping up my devilishly good looks you ask? Pomegranates are great for acne prevention and anti-aging. By rubbing some pomegranate extract on your trouble spots, it promotes healthy blood circulation and extends the life of fibroblasts as stated in Pomegranates – Great Inside and Out!. Fibroblasts are the cells responsible for the production of collagen.

Lastly, pomegranates are great for boosting your sex drive according to 5 Fruits that Increase Libido – Increase Sex Drive and Treat Impotence Naturally. The fruit helps your body produce nitric oxide which opens blood vessels and can increase your blood flow to sex organs. No wonder it is called a super fruit! So whether you like to eat the pomegranate for your looks, sex drive or overall health, consider pomegranates a necessary fruit for your diet.
