Happy October collegiates!

Now, October is the month to not only plan out your halloween costumes but to plan an extravagant Halloween themed party (or get together) as well. So, what do you do? Toss out the boring ol’ chips, dip and salsa gig and get creative with party platters and treats! Of cou

rse the possibilities are endless so here are a couple easy platters you can make to impress your guests :)

1) Banana Ghosts or “Boo nana pops”

Materials : Bananas, popsickle sticks, backing tray, wax paper, white chocolate

*Estimate how many bananas you may need to satisfy your guests before you begin*

Step 1) Cut bananas in half longways and lay them flat on the baking tray over wax paper

Step 2) Intert popsickle stick on one end of each banana half

Step 3) Melt some white chocolate either in the microwave or on the stovetop in a heatproof bowl over simmering water.

*Healthy Alternative: Instead of white chocolate you can dip each banana pop in vanilla greek yogurt for a sweet effect*

Step 4)  Carefully dip each banana pop in the mixture and clean any excess residue

Step 5) Lay flat on the baking tray over wax paper and put inside fridge until harden and dot eyes with black icing. Take out minutes before serving.

2) Mummy Hot Dogs

Materials: Sausages of your choice, 1 can (8 oz) Pillsbury™ refrigerated crescent dinner rolls, cooking spray

Step 1) Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Step 2) Roll out cresent rolls and cut lengthwise into about 40 pieces

Step 3) Wrap pieces of dough around each hot dog to look like “bandages,” stretching dough slightly to completely cover hot dog but leaving enough room for the “face”

Step 4) On ungreased large baking tray, place wrapped hot dogs ; spray dough lightly with cooking spray.

Step 5) Bake 13 to 17 minutes or until dough is light golden brown and hot dogs are hot

3) Black Light Drinks

Materials: Blacklight, tonic water, any drink mix

Step 1) Refrigerate your tonic water so that it is nice and cold to serve.

Step 2) Put tonic water in a pitcher or punch bowl.

Step 3) Stir in drink mix

Step 4) Serve to your guests

With any of these awesome party favors your guests are a bound to have a great time this Halloween!
