5 productive ideas for rainy days

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at San Francisco chapter.

It’s raining, it’s boring, and your day feels really boring. This sounds all too familiar as we drag out the last few weeks of our winter weather. It seems as 2017 started off with more rain than sunshine. Since rainy days can feel a bit more like the ruiner of plans, I’ve come up with five ideas to spend your time more productively on rainy days.

1. Clean up your planner –

I know from personal experience, keeping tons of lists in your head is only good when you remember an errand right before you go to sleep. Make a rainy day a DIY day and take an empty notebook and turn into your weekly planner. They’re great for keeping track of your schoolwork, work schedule, and even your grocery lists.

2. Rearrange your desk –

Productivity stems from motivation. And motivation always come from having the mindset of getting work done. If your area around you is messy and disorganized, chances are, your mind is going to be a reflection of that. Try organizing any miscellaneous items you have on your desk neatly into any open drawers or folders and only put what you need in front of you. Distractions such as magazines, books, and even knick-knacks like that lipstick you love can keep you from getting work done.

3. Get some (light) exercise –

I know this a typical thing to say, but seriously! Exercising even ten minutes a day can really increase your mood. Rainy days can feel sluggish and an excuse to stay in bed all day, but get some blood pumping! Try searching up back stretches and even light cardio you can easily do in the comfort of your own place. Stretching your back can easily relieve any built-up tension and make you feel way more relaxed.

4. Clean out your subscriptions –

We all know how annoying spam mail can be. Using decluttering websites such as unroll.me can help you declutter your inbox, making it that much more “fun” to check your email.

5. Do laundry –

I think we all know the infamous “chair” where all our belongings just seem to pile up. Just as I’m guilty of this, washing those dearly beloved black leggings and your sheets makes you feel like an accomplished woman. Clear out any of those sluggish vibes by washing them out with some Tide pods.
