Spring Break Getaways

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at San Diego chapter.

Cabo… Cabo… Cabo! Yes, Cabo is definitely one of the more talked about spring break destinations, but what if this dream getaway isn’t in your plans for this year? Maybe your parents won’t allow you to go or you procrastinated on making a plan. Whatever the case may be, have no FOMO (fear of missing out)! Luckily, there is still time and affordable options available for you to plan the best spring break. Be sure to check out Groupon, which offers some AMAZING deals and discounts on hotels, food, and fun activities! But for now, here are some great Cabo alternatives:

Arizona offers ideal weather for tanning and swimming in relaxing resort pools. Not to mention, there are some amazing hiking trails that combine working out with breathtaking views. You can even unwind at renowned spas or by watching one of the many stunning sunsets the desert scene has to offer. Both Phoenix and Tucson are about a six hour drive away from San Diego, which would allow for a fun road trip with your friends, not to mention serious bonding time! Additionally, Old Town in Scottsdale has an array of bars that many frequent after attending baseball spring training games!

Not looking to leave the Golden State? You are in luck because there are plenty of places to go in California! The Catalina Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau has a helpful website full of specials, packages, and activities available if a place like Catalina Island is up your alley. If you want something more family oriented, Orange Country has quite a few amusement parks, which include Knott’s Berry Farm, Disneyland, and California Adventure Park. If you are feeling the urge to splurge, there is always the option of shopping in Los Angeles. From here, Northern California is only a train trip away, where San Francisco can entertain the more eclectic soul. The options are limitless!

If you are feeling lucky, you should head on over to Las Vegas, Nevada. Even if you are not yet 21, there are still plenty of things to go see, such as the magnificent Cirque du Soleil performances, magic shows, and musicals! Like Arizona, Nevada offers great resort pools to chill out in, as well as mountains to hike through. In addition, there are world-famous golf courses, 18 and over clubs, and shopping in Caesar’s Palace. Most importantly, for those of you with a sweet tooth, be sure to stop by the colorful M&M’s World!

When in doubt, beach it out and take advantage of all that beautiful San Diego has to offer. After all, we do live where most people spring break!
