Meet this Week’s Go-Pro Adventurer and Witty Engineer: Chase Raquer!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at San Diego chapter.

Name: Chase Raquer

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Year:  Sophomore

Hometown: Federal Way, Washington

Relationship Status: Taken, S/O to Helen Loli

Why did you choose to attend USD?

The sun, had to get away from the rain.

What organizations are you involved in on campus?

I was involved in Habitat For Humanity and Founder’s Club freshman year, now I’m secretary of Lambda Chi Alpha.

What is your dream job?

Working as an onsite engineer for GoPro. It’d be really cool to get to create the equipment and cameras used in GoPro sponsored shoots, as well as getting to see it firsthand. Being a trophy husband for Selena Gomez wouldn’t be bad either.

What are your spring break plans?

Nothing too exciting. I’m going back home to visit my mom. She’d be crushed if I didn’t and I can’t stand to make her sad.

What is your most memorable USD moment?

That’s hard, probably my first time seeing Mission Beach and realizing I’m one of the lucky few that gets to experience living on the beach during my college career.

Describe your perfect day in San Diego.

Perfect day in San Diego would be waking up around 2 am, because I never get any sleep. Get dressed and head to Oscar’s taco shop and get some smoked fish tacos. Head to Mission Beach, chill with the boys, and see where the night takes us.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I have recently acquired a harmonica. I’m not very good, but I try very hard. Engineering stereotypes are true.

Do you have a favorite professor at USD?

Jacobitz, engineering department. He’s leading a class in London that I’m going to; hopefully I can convince him to hit a pub or two with me.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

My number one thing on my bucket list is to camp in the middle of Australia and throw a rug out and see the stars without any light pollution.

Thanks for chatting with us, Chase!
