The Weirdest Websites on the Internet

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Salisbury chapter.

Anyone who has ever browsed the internet knows it can be a very unusual place. Ranging from hilarious, awkward and borderline disturbing, you can’t expect anything less from a platform that enables anyone to access and post whatever they please. These websites remind us that anything is possible on the web. In honor of Halloween swiftly approaching, let’s take a look at some of the weirdest websites.

1. http://www.newsoffuture.com/

This site is more interesting than weird, but it still deserves a spot on the list. As the name suggests, this site claims to know what the future will look like. You can find various fictional articles regarding entertainment, space and sports in the year 2020 and beyond. Thinking about the future is mind-inducing already, but reading realistic news articles makes you think about future outcomes more deeply. Who knows, the site may yield some truth after all.

2. http://www.creepypasta.org/

Creepy pasta is a popular site among lovers of the eerie and unexplainable. The site is filled with short stories that scare and shock its readers. There are some spine shivering posts on here including recounts of murder, paranormal sightings and alien abductions. Creepypasta has enough to make anyone feel uneasy.

3. http://deathclock.com/index.cfm

The death clock coins itself as the internet’s friendly reminder that life is slipping away second by second. Enter some basic information like your birthday, sex and smoking status and get a personalized death date. To put it all into perspective you’ll also see a countdown to the date in seconds.

4. http://zoomquilt.org/

Zoomquilt is a captivating endless zoom illusion. It’s easy to get lost in the illusion’s intricate patterns and freakish faces. It’s definitely something you’ll want to share with your friends.

5. http://www.ilooklikebarackobama.com/

Not much to say about this one except it was created by a man who claims to resemble Barack Obama. It’s hilarious because he looks nothing like the former president. We can assume he’s just being sarcastic but it’s still outlandish.

6. http://www.staggeringbeauty.com/

Take heed to the website’s warning of its flashing images. A single worm appears on the screen and you are prompted to shake it vigorously with your mouse. This is when things get pretty crazy.

7. http://vectorpark.com/head/

Vectorpark features an immersive game that involves feeding a giant head. The site isn’t very thought-provoking but you have to admit the concept itself is unique
