Is My College Degree Worth My Sanity?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Salisbury chapter.

So, we all know how we much we wanted high school to be over right? To be in college and to consider ourselves grown was the dream.

Well, college is not all fun and games like we thought! There are people dropping out left and right. Why is that? It might not be for them.

College is hard, and it takes a lot of determination and money. It literally can steal your sanity from you. Those long lectures don’t help anything either. I don’t know about you, but if I’m not interested in a topic, I find myself daydreaming about all different kinds of stuff.

So, what if I drop out of college or even decide not to go?

College dropouts suffer with trying to find good paying careers. Most careers usually require a college degree, and some kind of experience related to the position you’re applying for.

So, imagine how hard it will be to find a decent job without a degree.

That can become depressing, being grown, under-educated, and not making the big bucks like you’ve been dreaming of for as long as you remember.

Don’t get me wrong, of course there are good paying jobs that can be obtained without a college degree, but they are hard to find!

A lot of us are in college because Mama said if we don’t go to college we have to get out of her house! (At least that’s why I’m here.)

Moral of the story, if college is your only option like me, get involved in things that interest you and make sure you love your major because the workload will get tough. It definitely helps if you actually like what you’re learning so you can retain the information.

And if college isn’t for you, then find something that you love to do and go for it. Live your life the way you want to live it because at the end of the day, you only live once. Honestly, anyone can be successful, it just takes hard work!
