7 Things to Do on the Weekends in The Bend

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Saint Mary's chapter.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good party and I firmly believe that getting ready with your friends for a night out is the best part of an evening but is that really what we need to do every weekend?

Being in such close proximity to Notre Dame, SMC belles have a whole world of activities to partake in that don’t involve alcohol, 2 am Transpo rides, and walking across campus in heels.

1.    Notre Dame Hockey You can’t deny that hockey players are some of the cutest athletes…The new Compton center at ND is amazing and best part: admission is free!

2.    Notre Dame Basketball I don’t know about you but I love watching basketball-it is such a display of athleticism and so much easier to follow than football.

3.    Concerts at Legends Some of my favorite nights at school have been at the Legends concerts. Seeing Brett Eleredge sing “Don’t Ya” and “Beat of the Music” and SoMo sing “Ride” made me so happy.

4.    DPAC Events The Debartolo Performing arts center has some fantastic shows, films, concerts, and talks. The student film festival is a renowned display of talent.

5.    Chicago The Windy City is close enough to drive or take the train! You can find a cheap hotel room and spend a weekend shopping, seeing the bean, eating good food, and watching life in the big city.

6.    Movie night I know it’s cliché but staying in, ordering pizza, and watching a movie with your girls is so much fun and you can be productive the next day! Our movie nights always turn into watching the best vines and everyone end up in tears from laughing.

7.    Volunteer One of the great things at SMC is every dorm has a community partner and the dorms plan some great activities. Holy Cross’ partner is Hannah and Friends and there are tons of opportunities to give back and have a lot of fun with some great people.
