It is no secret that one of the most complicated relationships you can have in your life is with your mother. Not your boyfriend, not your best firend, not even your annoying 10-year old sister. Mother-daughter relationships are special because of the unconditional love, support, and wisdom they can give throughout your entire life. They are complicated because it is as if you are fighting with yourself when you two get into an argument. The relationship dynamics with your mother can change over time and it is a bumpy road, but in the end they are one of the best and most important people in your life.  God Bless all the mothers that had to deal with our drama for so long.

1. When she is the Queen B

The first thoughts that come to mind when you’re in preschool is that your mother is the queen in your princess story. She has perfumes, makeup, heels, and pearls that you can’t keep your hands off of! Her room is a never-ending game of dress up and you couldn’t love her more.

2. When she is right…which is usually always

You’re annoyed with her being always right, yet you still constantly fail to listen to her.

3. When she tries to relate with you and your friends

You love her but want her to just go away so you can get back to our own middle school drama.

4. When you realize you are your mother

You’re fighting and bickering back and forth and then realize there can be no winner because you are basically fighting with yourself and 15 year old you cant stand the thought of that.

5. When she tells you to slow down with everything

When you’re 16/17 you can drive, you want more freedom, you think you can handle things on your own without her help or guidance. Basically your relationship is formed on when you can have the car keys and curfew for the night.  She tells you to slow down but growing up seems like so much fun at the time.

6. When you’re in your 20’s

You’re in college and realize how awesome and cool your mom is. Going out with her is a blast and conversations become more personal. She always knows how to make you feel better. She has become your best drinking buddy and you want to show her off to all of your friends when she visits.

7. When she is too cool for you

Some days you just miss her and want to call her up to chat. One call, two calls, three calls…Mom? Yeah she is busy having her own fun while you are stuck studying for your exams.
