Why You Need to Read “Girl, Stop Apologizing” by Rachel Hollis

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sacred Heart chapter.

Rachel Hollis’ “Girl, Stop Apologizing” is the most badass, empowering, and motivating book I have ever read. Hollis is an author, motivational speaker, podcast host, and a blogger. So, if reading isn’t your style, then I definitely recommend listening to her podcast “RISE” or checking out her blog for some inspiring talks.

“Girl, Stop Apologizing” is easily one of the most motivational pieces of art I have ever experienced. Hollis opens up about very real and even embarrassing events in her life. She embraces the power of an embarrassing moment, heartache, and even sorrow. But her main message is to enjoy life. Enjoy every single moment we have on this earth, and to be a little selfish with our time here.

It is totally OK to say yes, but absolutely OK to say no. We are all in control of our lives, and Hollis instills that mentality into your mind as you read this incredible book.

Throughout the book Hollis refers to readers as her “friends”, bringing such a good atmosphere to the entire experience. Waking up an extra hour early to read “Girl, Stop Apologizing” with my morning cup of coffee was such a good way to start my day. Hollis truly knows how to fire you up for a productive and positive day.

Hollis also encourages all of her readers to follow their goals, and to take the necessary steps to achieve them. She provides you with her personal insight on the steps she took to achieve her goals; and they are very applicable to help achieve any goal. Her advice empowers readers to embrace who they are, while respectively striving to be the best possible version of themselves; a version which they love and admire deeply.

So, if you find yourself in search of a new read, or even something that ignites a spark of light into your soul, then I highly recommend reading this impeccable book. Once you reach Hollis’ final piece of advice, I can promise that you will feel as if you just gained a new best friend.
