Upcoming Artist Alert: Pia Mia

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sacred Heart chapter.

You may have heard about her through the Kardashian/Jenner clan, and if you haven’t yet, you probably will soon enough. I sense a breakthrough with a new female artist, and her name is Pia Mia Perez, also known as Pia Mia. She is a friend of the youngest of the Jenners, Kylie Jenner, and has been seen all over her instagram and twitter pages. Pia had a slight modeling career path going for her before she even met Kylie.

She modeled for the clothing company “Nasty Gal” which is becoming increasingly popular for college girls. However, her recently uncovered talent is singing.  She has a YouTube account and posts videos of herself singing covers of popular songs, and has a phenomenal singing voice. Fortunately for her, she has the tremendously popular and constantly followed Jenners and Kardashians advertising her talent.

Now that she is becoming known amongst the public, she has began to write and sing her own songs, rather than do covers of other songs. It has even been said that her cover of “Hold On We’re Going Home” is actually better than the original version by Drake. People are also even saying that her voice sounds exactly like Rihanna’s, and that she will be “the next Rihanna.”

When Pia Mia was trending on twitter, I checked out what others had to say about her. People said things like “Why is Pia Mia so underrated? She’s amazing.”  (@avonsflow).  @KendallRochlin said, “Pia Mia’s cover of going home is GOLDEN.”  @TheZacMann said “@princesspiamia’s music though…shes the truth!” and @gbothell tweeted, “Pia Mia and Rihanna have to be cousins or somethin.”  Keep your eyes open for a breakthrough by Pia Mia Perez.
