I am a republican. I listen to country music, I like to go fishing, and I believe some of our countries greatest heroes are people like Chris Kyle. However, that does not, under any circumstances, mean I am racist. I have friends of color, family that are part of the LGBQT community, and I am OK with that. Contrary to popular belief, not ALL republicans are racist.

The amount of stares and comments I receive from walking around in timberlands and a camo hat is ridiculous – it’s a hunting hat, get over yourself. The “redneck” look doesn’t mean “oh hey I’m racist, vote Trump!” Being a republican means I am more conservative, I believe in pro-life, but if necessary a woman should be allowed an abortion like in the case of rape. I also believe that anyone has the right to marry the one they love, whether they are two men, two women, a man who was once a woman, a person of color and a white, anyone deserves to marry the person they love.

I believe that the government should be less involved with what WE the people do, let us work our way out of the rut, don’t give us an easy way out. I believe that Common Core is stupid and shouldn’t exist, the states should determine school curriculum, not the national government. I believe that the national government should take a step back. I believe that more gun control is crazy, and that people should just be smarter about handling their guns, however, I do agree that people should be psychologically assessed before purchasing one.

I do not agree with the views of Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders, for I believe they are just full of it and will run the country to the ground. I think that Trump’s unpredictability will be his downfall, but I do agree with some of the points he shares. I am a republican, I have my views on what is good for the country, but I am not a racist and for anyone who automatically associates racism with republicans is being racist to republicans. So learn to not judge a book by its cover.
