Name: Monica Muffoletto
Year: Senior
Major: Graphic Design
Hometown: Bronx, NY
Organization: Kappa Delta Sorority
What clubs/organizations are you involved in on campus?
I have been a member of Kappa Delta Sorority since my sophomore year.
As a senior, what has been your most memorable moment at SHU?
My most memorable moment at SHU was winning the “Outstanding Greek New Member of the Year” award. I was a sophomore at the time and held a leadership position on Council as a new member. I was the Vice President of Membership and was in charge of Formal Recruitment in 2012. As a new member holding a leadership position, I was at a disadvantage because I never experienced recruitment from the back end. I didn’t know the ins and outs so I had to teach them to myself. I was ecstatic when I received the award because I knew that all my hard work had paid off.
What made you interested in art?
I actually wanted to study interior design coming into SHU, but it wasn’t offered here. I’ve always loved house hunting and redecorating so Graphic Design was the next best thing. I prefer working on the computer using the Adobe creative suite rather than fine art, although I really enjoyed taking painting and illustration classes. The art department here is excellent!
What would you tell someone who’s interested in Greek life on campus?
I would definitely tell them to rush during Fall Recruitment. Being a part of Greek Life is being a part of something bigger than yourself. It’s a great way to make new friends, but more importantly supporting a great cause and helping out the local community.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
This last semester of senior year has been really hectic for me preparing my portfolio for graduation, so any spare time I can get is very valuable. When I do get some free time, I really would just rather catch up on my shows and hang out with my little.
What are your plans for after graduation?
After graduation I will be starting full time at my internship, Burt’s Bees Baby in Fairfield. I have been with them for about a year and a half and I absolutely love working there. The atmosphere there is great and I was fortunate enough to be offered the full time job before graduation. I will continue to do what I am doing now, which is creating daily homepages and email blasts for burtsbeesbaby.com. I also create any promotional coupons, fliers and cards for our marketing manager, along with editing and resizing all product images.
