How to Rock It: Sweater Weather

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sacred Heart chapter.

Sometimes, the best thing about the turn of a new season is the fashion that follows. It’s sweater weather and there are a few sweaters that every girl should have in her closet.

First is the perfect sweater for class on a chilled fall day. Draped, open front cardigans are an essential for fall because they keep you warm and fashionable at the same time. Open front cardigans come in all patterns, colors, and size drapes. My personal favorite are the Tribal prints, like the one featured here from Lavender Boutique. This type of sweater looks best when paired with leggings or skinny jeans and combat boots.

Next is the mesh off the shoulder sweater. This sweater is great for the fall because it’s a loose fitt, somewhat airy, and still shows a little bit of skin before we have to completely bundle up for winter. The mesh off the shoulder sweater is extremely versatile and can be paired with leggings, jeans, even shorts. It’s casual, yet can be sophisticated – a definite must have. Try pairing this sweater with a long necklace.

Last, but certainly not least is a fancier, more chic type of sweater that mixes two different medias. Faux leather sleeve sweaters are great for a fall night on the town and look best when paired with a long necklace and faux leather leggings. However, it can also be paired with a pair of jeans or a skirt and still look fabulous.
