Halloween Costumes Made From Your Closet

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sacred Heart chapter.

It is spooky season! Halloween is creeping around the corner, but Halloween Costumes can be very expensive in stores. As college students, buying multiple Halloween costumes this does not work with our budget. Here are some ideas for Halloween costumes that you can make from pieces within your closet:

Greaser Sandy:

If you want to be edgy you can easily dress up as Sandy from Grease. Pick out a pair of black jeans, find a black off the shoulder shirt or any black shirt if you don’t have off the shoulder, a black leather jacket, a thick black belt, and red heels and lipstick. Put them all together and you will look like the perfect Greaser.

Lumberjack:

Dressing as a lumberjack can be easy! You can pair denim pants, skirt or shorts with a flannel, brown timberlands or combat boots, a brown belt and to top it off, a beanie. This is a cute costume idea that will keep you warm and night long!

Holly Golightly/ Breakfast at Tiffany’s:

If you love Breakfast at Tiffany’s as much as I do, this costume is for you! Find that classic little black dress in your closet, and wear a chunky silver necklace or pearls. You can easily pick up costume pearls from Claire’s if you don’t have any of your own. Add black sunglasses and don’t forget black gloves!

Marilyn Monroe:

If you are looking for a costume very last minute, this is a simple and easy one! To transform into Marilyn Monroe, wear a white dress, silver or white heels and most importantly a bright red lipstick.

Pam Beesly:

Binge watch The Office on Netflix? Is Pam Beesly your favorite character on the show? You can dress as her by wearing a pencil skirt, blouse, and a colored cardigan. If you have access to a printer, you can always make a Dunder Mifflin nametag.

A Minion:

To be a cute little minion, you should pair jean overalls, pants or a skirt, with a plain yellow shirt and accessories with black sunglasses and black gloves. You will have the cutest costume of the night!
