Ahhhhh New York! Only about an hour and a half away from our campus, the city is filled with life, people, stress (try not getting lost without google maps), and excitement. Apart from walking through Times Square and going shopping in Century 21, there are millions of places to visit and activities to try. But how exactly do you start looking for that fun activity?

The question we usually ask ourselves is, what exactly am I in the mood to do? But let’s be real for a minute– we can’t exactly pinpoint the perfect event for our mood. Our first instinct is to look online for upcoming events, but many websites ask very specific questions and then categorize all events and dates. Once you get to a category, you have to scroll until the end of time jsut to see all of the options. It gets too complicated! Using these websites, you will probably miss an event you would have liked because you didn’t study all of the one hundred categories.

But then I found the answer to my event prayers, Events12 (http://www.events12.com/newyork)! This small and uncomplicated website summarizes all the BEST events in New York City and puts them up in a simple calendar style. When you visit the page, you don’t have to search a thing– the site’s homepage is an event layout for that particular month. If you look now, you will see a complete layout of November’s most popular music, cultural and food NYC events all at just a glance! Oh, and it gets better…all dates are double checked and all events have links to provide those interested with further event details.

So whether you are planning a city trip with your boyfriend and want to skip the walk in Central Park you’ve probably done fifty times over, or you are trying to avoid another fifth avenue shopping spree with your gal pals (hello broke college students), check out Events12! The site also includes events in other great cities like Boston, Atlanta, Chicago, Portland, and Seattle if you were looking for a weekend getaway. For us Sacred Heart students, New York City is where we want to be…especially with the holidays quickly approaching. That being said, use Events12 to your advantage this holiday season!
