It’s 2013 and while there has been much talk of the world coming to an end, thankfully all the dooms day prepers have the wrong calculations. But how can you ensure that in everything you do, you live out the phrase of the generation? Because lets face it, we really do only live once. Break out your pencils and smartphone, call your best friend, and start planning! We’ve got a bucket list of staple items for every true pair of besties to complete. Time’s ticking.
Train together for a run, walk, or cycling race
There are few things more rewarding then completing a marathon or 5k race, especially when you started and reached that goal with your best friend by your side. There are lots of local races and events held in surrounding areas that you and your best friend can sign up for. You can find information for races near you at http://www.roadracerunner.com. There are many themed races like The Color Run, Rock and Roll Marathon Series, or fun themes on holidays like St. Patrick’s Day. You can also run for a cause that you and your best friend feel passionate about! Raise money for a charitable cause by getting pledge donations from friends and family. You and your bestie will create memories working to get in shape for the big day. When you cross the finish line you will not only feel great physically but your friendship will grow, hopefully along with some muscle.
Have an impromptu photo shoot
Every girl loves the excuse to dress up even if it’s just for a couple of hours in front of a camera for a girly photo shoot. You don’t have to be Nigel Barker from Americas Next Top Model to figure out your way around a camera. Take advantage of the warmer spring weather to take pictures outside. Taking pictures with a best friend allows you to get to know each other in a more personal way by playing with different outfit choices and make up looks. You can even give each other mini makeovers from your own closets! Make a collage of the photo shoot or frame your favorite picture to put in your room.
Take a yoga class
Yoga is a relaxing and rewarding form of exercise that came seem intimidating when you go it alone. There are gyms off campus that offer a variety of class times and levels like Synergy Yoga and Fitness on Post Road in Fairfield. There are also convenient classes offered in our very own Pitt Center fishbowl. Partner yoga is an involved activity that will bring your friendship up to new challenges. Don’t sweat it; in the end you will feel refreshed and have a whole new level of zen in your relationship.
Study Abroad
Traveling to a foreign land with a best gal by your side is a life experience that can’t be duplicated. When considering study abroad programs it might be a frightening process that does not seem manageable alone. By traveling and learning with a friend by your side, the memories will be great and your friendship will blossom. So take advantage of the opportunity to study abroad. With a change of scenery, language, and culture, your best friend will be there to help you make the most of it!
