3 DIY Ways to Decorate Your Small Dorm Space for Halloween

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sacred Heart chapter.

Living in and adjusting to a small space such as a college dorm can be difficult, especially during the holidays when all you want to do is buy every painted pumpkin you see! Luckily, there are plenty of easy ways to decorate your small space so that it looks festive, while still being as spacious as possible! Here are three fun ways to accomplish this!

1. Mummy Pillow

Let’s face it: everyone loves cute and trendy throw pillows, so making a mummy-inspired pillow is perfect for Halloween! It’s going to be the first thing your friends see when they walk in the room, and is bound to make a spooky impact! All you have to do is purchase a white throw pillow, and wrap Ace bandages around it in any pattern you want, leaving room to draw eyes! Once the bandages are glued to the pillow, draw the eyes, and voila! This decoration is timeless and can be used year after year.

2. Mini Pumpkin Vases

In college dorms, you tend to run low on free space, so it is key to make the best use possible out of the little that you have for yourself, which you and roomie don’t share! To add a little autumn spice into your room, purchase some mini pumpkins (or pick them at your local pumpkin patch) and a tall cylinder-shaped vase. Simply stack the pumpkins in the vase, and you have a quick and simple decoration, perfect for adding a little touch of fall!

3. Ghost Light Mason Jars

Lastly, another cute way to revive a basic Mason jar is to add some lights inside and draw goofy ghost faces on it! The lights can be the same ones used as Christmas lights, and they can range in Halloween-inspired colors, such as orange, green, and purple. Simple shove them into the jar, and you have a cute lantern that can light up your room when the overhead fluorescent lighting is too harsh.

These three ways to decorate your room not only are inexpensive and easy, but they also do not take up much space, so you and your roommate(s) will be able to enjoy the Halloween vibes while still having room to do your homework and hangout!
