Personally, I loathe this six-letter word. Being called pretty is inevitably one of the worst things a person could say to me. I think it’s a lame excuse for a compliment. Is there no other adjective you could think of? Is my appearance the only part of me you see? When calling me pretty, I feel as though my looks are the only reason you have spoken to me, for you have completely judged a book by its cover. I want to know that I am more than my appearance. Is my life meaningful? Is what I do for my community impactful? Has my smile changed someone’s day?
