Tips for Throwing a Holiday Party!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Rutgers chapter.

There’s something really nice about having all your friends over and having a good time before finals begin. Here are some tips on how to throw a successful Holiday Party!

1. Costco is BAE

If you didn’t already know, Costco is everyone’s best friend. When it comes to parties, Costco has you covered. Whether you are looking for beverages (sparkling cider!!) or snacks (pretzel crisps mm), appetizers or entrees, Costco has everything you need.

2. Start by picking a theme

Whether you are doing an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party, a Wine and Cheese Night, or Pasta Party, choose something in advance to roll with! That way, you can inform your guests and they can plan accordingly as well, whether it is to bring appetizers for your Apps and ‘Zerts Party or games for Board Game Night.

3. Plan your space

Figure out where you are hosting your party, and then decide how you want the setup to be. Do you want to move furniture around? Where will food go? Where will guests be congregating? Do you have an area for coats/gifts/shoes?

4. Figure out food

Figure out if you want to make something, buy food, or ask people to bring something. If you’re making food you need to plan out your time much more carefully the day of the party and if you’re asking people to bring food you make sure people actually commit to something!
