Sustainable Things That You Can Do Everyday

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Rutgers chapter.

You don’t have to do a complete overhaul of your life to help the environment! Here are some easy ways to be a little more sustainable in your daily routine:

Use Ecosia

Ecosia is a search engine that uses 80% of their profit (from ad revenue) to plant trees! Just by a simple search, you are helping the environment. They also publish their monthly financial reports if you are skeptical.

Use Reusable Bags when Grocery Shopping

Not only are you limiting the use of plastic bags, but reusable bags are much more sturdier than plastic bags, and you can put more into the bag without the fear of it breaking. Also, some stores will give you a few cents off your purchase per bag you bring in!

Reduce your Food Waste

This option is also money-savvy and helps reduce the trash you throw out.

Ride a Bike, Scooter, or Skateboard

Now that the weather is getting nicer, why not take the opportunity to utilize your warm-weather rides?

Use a Reusable Water Bottle

Rather than investing in disposable plastic water bottles, find a water bottle that you can fill and refill with water. It decreases plastic waste and it’s a lot cheaper! If you’re concerned about the quality of water, invest in a water filter.

Carpool

If you can’t get to where you want to go by bike or with your own two feet, start carpooling with friends or co-workers.
