RU Registered: Ways to Register to Vote On Campus

Nifty Ways to Register To Vote:

With the upcoming midterm election on November 6, it is so important for you to be registered to vote. It is a privilege to be able to vote. Additionally, you decide who and how your country is run. Also, it is a great (and only) way for you to have your political views represented in the government. You may be thinking, "Well, I want to vote, but how am I supposed to register? I’m in college and can’t go home and register." Well, you don’t have to! There are many ways you can register to vote right here at Rutgers!

Register Via Social Media:

Interestingly enough, due to the record low voter turnout this year many social media platforms are allowing for their users to register to vote via their apps. Apps include Twitter, Snapchat, and Facebook. There is a push for Americans to vote and make it as convenient as possible!

Register Through Rutgers:

Not only can you vote through social media, but you can also vote right here on campus! There is an organization called Center For Youth Political Participation whose goal is to register Rutgers students to vote. You can visit their website and check to see if you’re already registered or to see the steps on how to register to vote. You can also go to their office and register to vote in person!

Register Through Your District:

If you commute or choose to go home, you can go to your county district’s office and register to vote this way too. All you need to do is find the office for your district and go in and inform them that you want to register and they’ll take care of the rest!

Traditional Mail-In Vote:

Last, there is the traditional method of the mail-in ballot. This link will take you to the United States’ official voter registration website. Here, you’ll be able to find the form you can fill out and mail into your district’s office. You just have to print, fill out the form and mail it in! Easy!

Now that you know about all the ways you can register to vote, you have no excuse! The deadline for voter registration for the state of New Jersey is Tuesday, October 16. Even if you are hesitant to vote because you do not know who to vote for or much about politics, it is still important to be registered for future elections. This election coming up is BIG so get out there and let your voice be heard (plus you get a super cool sticker). So what are you waiting for? Go and register to vote!
